Ulka is a strength-training app for iPhone, plus a program builder at ulka.life. This policy explains what we collect, why we need it, who else handles it, and how you can delete it. The short version: we collect what's needed to run your training log, we don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
What we collect
- Account details: your phone number (used to sign in), and whatever you add to your profile: name, username, email, date of birth, gender, height, body weight, weight class, country and profile photo.
- Training data: workouts, exercises, sets, reps, weights, RPE, notes, personal records, templates, programs, and the body weight you enter when finishing a workout.
- Gym location: when you search for a nearby gym, your approximate location (accurate to about 100 metres) is sent to find gyms around you. We save the gym you pick with the workout, not your location.
- Technical data: a user ID and sign-in tokens, and basic server logs (such as request times and error messages) used to keep the service running and secure.
Apple Health
If you allow it, Ulka reads your body weight, steps, sleep, heart rate and active and resting energy from Apple Health to show them next to your training in the app. This data stays on your iPhone. We don't upload it to our servers, and we never use it for advertising or share it with anyone.
If you allow it, Ulka also saves finished workouts and the energy they burned to Apple Health. You can change these permissions at any time in the Health app under Sharing → Apps → Ulka.
Why we use it
- To sign you in and keep your account secure.
- To store and sync your training log, work out personal records, and run programs and analytics.
- To share your training with coaches you choose to connect with.
- To show the Ulka leaderboard, if you take part.
- To fix bugs, prevent abuse and keep the service working.
We don't use your data for advertising, and we don't sell or rent it to anyone.
Who can see your data
- Coaches you connect with can see your name, phone number, workouts, personal records and the programs they assign you. You can leave a coach at any time in the app.
- Other Ulka users can see your name, profile photo and best squat, bench and deadlift on the Ulka leaderboard. You can hide yourself in the app under More → Show Me on Leaderboard. You can also report or hide other lifters from the leaderboard.
- Lifters you share a program with can see that program.
Service providers
We use a few companies to run Ulka. They process data only on our behalf:
- Google Firebase: phone-number sign-in and the verification text message.
- Amazon Web Services (Mumbai region): our servers and profile photo storage.
- Supabase: our database.
- Google Maps Platform: nearby gym search.
- Vercel: hosting for ulka.life.
We may also disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our users.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete it from our systems straight away. Copies may remain in encrypted backups for a short period until those backups are replaced.
Deleting your account
In the app, go to More → Delete Account. This permanently deletes your profile, phone number, profile photo, workouts, records, templates, programs and coach connections, and removes you from the leaderboard. Data already saved in Apple Health stays there until you remove it in the Health app.
If you can't use the app, email admin@ulka.life from any address with the phone number on your account, and we'll delete it for you.
Your rights
You can see and edit most of your data in the app. You can also ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or raise a concern about how we handle it, by emailing admin@ulka.life. We'll reply within 30 days.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Access to our servers and database is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will tell you if a breach affects you.
Children
Ulka is not meant for children. You need to be at least 18, or have permission from a parent or guardian, to use it. If you think a child has given us personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For important changes, we'll also let you know in the app.
